On a cross-country road trip and hit a giant porcupine on the freeway outside of Powell at 11pm on a Saturday night. Busted the radiator and AC. Had it towed to another spot, but their best estimate ended up being a day or two later and hundreds of dollars more than these guys. Huge thanks to John and his crew for helping us out in our time of need!
John's team does some amazing work! They worked quickly and had my car done before other shops even took time to look at it. I hit a porcupine coming out of Powell and damaged my radiator beyond repair - John got me a brand new one by the next morning while salvaging for other parts I needed from the same car/model I have to keep my bill economical! Great job guys.
Thank you so much!!
We were on a long trip when we had car trouble. We limped into Cody on July 5th and went looking for McCue's based on a recommendation from a friend. The shop was closed for the holiday's but one of the mechanics was there working on a personal vehicle. He took the time to talk to us and to call the owner about our problem. The owner (or his wife) actually met us at the shop on her day off to take pictures of our problem to make sure they ordered the correct part. We scheduled our van to be repaired the next week on our way home. (We didn't need it much during the week.) When we showed up in town the next week, they had the part and had us back on the road in just a few minutes. Also, we had been told that we would have to replace the radiator, but McCue's found that we just needed to replace a connector which saved us hundreds of dollars. We were so thankful that they went above and beyond to get us home. Thank you!
Hate is a strong word, I don't know if I hate anything. However, this shop left me pretty disappointed. After having a rip in the outer CV joint boot on our vehicle while driving through the Big Horn Mtns, this is the first shop we arrived at the next morning. Having worked on vehicles my entire life, I didn't think we would be able to get in right away. I was right, they were full for the morning and that was fine. I told the lady what was wrong and what needed replaced. I was not really heard, she told me she may give me a call when they have an opening and they didn't look for part availability in case they would be able to get my vehicle in? Pretty common practice with our situation and need to get an appointment scheduled. When I asked when they had a spot open she told me she would call and would probably be able to get me in this afternoon. She had my voicemail and would call. Still no attempt to hear me or locate a part. So my girlfriend kindly asked, is there anyone else in town you would recommend? I added, maybe not recommend but is dependable or reputable. Her answer was "no". That's where the disappointment came in. She new our situation and the need to get back on the road. I worked at a auto repair shop in a town of 6000 people and we always had other shops that we worked with to accommodate our customers needs. I can't imagine how disliked this shop must be in the town of Cody, if they are unwilling to give a nod to another shop because they want the business. After heading to R & P Auto Repair, and having them be so helpful and accommodating, I'm happy that our business did not go to this shop. Character says a lot about a company, and character is something that this repair shop lacked. They did not work on our car so I cannot say anything about their workmanship. Around 3 pm, while we were driving to Yellowstone, we did get a call from the shop, however it was only to look at the vehicle. Had they looked to see if they had the parts available earlier that morning, we could have brought our car in and had it fixed, and on the road, rather than having to waste another night waiting for this shop to preform the repair. It just seems like bad business, you should be customer oriented, not downgrading other businesses in your area so that you can make a buck!
We had car trouble on our way to Cody, during our vacation. It's not a good feeling being from out of town and trying to find a dependable mechanic. We were blessed in finding Mc cue auto repair! They were able to fit us in first thing in the morning and have are brakes done by noon, at a reasonable price. What could of ruined our vacation turned out to be just a small bump in the road.
